Flower Mound Real Estate News | Outback Designs Abandons Homeowners
Outback Designs, a former Flower Mound pool and patio builder, recently closed shop leaving many customers angry and afraid. The majority of the customers with unfinished business are in Southlake, Grapevine, and Coppell. With having already paid for the pools that remain unfinished, some homeowners are being threatened by Outback Designs’ subcontractors with mechanics liens unless they collect their money. The problem they face, however, is the customers have already paid Outback, but apparently the now defunct company did not pay its subcontractors.
As I hear about the nightmare stories surrounding Outback Designs, I can’t help but reflect on my own personal experience with the pool company. Just last year, my husband and I invited several pool and patio designers to our Flower Mound home to give us a bids for an outdoor living space. My husband, Ray Rice is the Broker/Owner of Rice Capital Mortgage, and had recently completed our refinance to incorporate the new addition to our home. We designed the patio layout ourselves about two years prior but needed some help tweeking the overall design. The patio space would include an outdoor kitchen with a bar,fireplace, Pennsylvania blue stone deck, and stone seating.
We finally came to a point where we felt it was a great time to move forward. Gary Ross of Outback Designs was one of the chosen companies to provide a bid along with several others.
How fortunate we are that we chose another company. We didn’t quite know what it was at the time, but something just didn’t feel right. Afterall, Gary had great ideas, was charming with the eloquent Australian accent, and was more competively priced than the others.
Although we are still waiting for the contractor we hired to finish the job, our beautiful patio is now almost complete. For more information, click here to search on Google.

Mr. Ross has lived in the U.S. since he was 18. His ‘eloquent’ Austrailian accent is non existent until he is in front of a customer.

Thanks for your comment on our blogroll posted to www.JoyRiceRealtyGroup.com. I have heard your claim before from others about Mr. Ross’ occassional Australian accent. Hopefully, you are not one of the victims of this situation.

Ms. Rice::
Good for you for taking the time to write about Ross, I used to be his GM and I quit 9 months prior to him pulling this bad stuff, I warned his customers and his subcontractors and the &%$#@ sued me for tortious interference and slander and libel, thats Ok, I cvan live with myself knowing I did the correct thing, his lawsuit forced me to file to file a bankruptcy which i later withdrew, the District Attorney Office is working up a felony case on him, Investigator Vance with the special crimes unit is in charge of it and would welcome all input from any of his victims, he told me today that Mr. Ross is “going to jail for a long time”, as for the Austrailian accent, 98% fake!!!!But, he came over here on a two year work visa and IS NOT a citizen, he is actually an Illegal, his aussie passport is expired!
Thank you and I will considfer you when I buy again.

PS:
Not only did he close his business and leave customers and other out to dry, if you go by his old office at 1033 Long Prarie Rd you will see a new sign that says “Complete Landsculptures” but if you call information and get the number for that location and call you get an answering machine that says “Welcome to the Outback” Do Ya think maybe Outback is operating under the same name, Duh????? Call and leave a message for Gary Ross and see what happens…I did….The former owner of Outback called me back and hung up when he realized it was me-something to think about!!Hold onto your wallets folks!
